The conference will focus on two key ideas: the professional practice and the practitioners. Both are vital factors for successful student engagement in learning to achieve the desired outcomes of education.
The professional practice encompasses pedagogical knowledge and skills which play a significant role in determining the level of learning our students can achieve. The conference seeks to inspire our teachers to engage in deep pedagogy and build their repertoire of pedagogical skills. Teachers are challenged to take active steps to develop their own professional practice so that they can take their students to a higher level of learning.
Deepening the professional practice of our teachers necessarily entails challenging our teachers to be lifelong learners. Teachers as learners will continually seek new learning opportunities to enhance their professional capabilities. Teachers as learners will also channel their learning into purposeful practice to engage their students effectively. Beyond their own learning, teachers as learners will take the initiative to co-create new knowledge for the teaching fraternity. This can be realized when teachers work together to design innovative practices and share these new practices with members of the teaching fraternity. The conference will also serve as a platform for teachers as leaders to build the professional capacity of colleagues in the teaching fraternity and at the same time, cultivate their own professional practice and develop their leadership capacity.
